Electricity: In Turkey it's 220 V

Elmali: A prosperous small town sited in 1.200 meters height-level. At the foot of the 2505 meters high Elmali-Mountain (Apple mountain). Many drained lakes here were converted to fertile cultivable areas. Elmall is known for his numerous apple plantations and the very well preserved „Oemer Pasa mosque "from the 15th Century. Every year in the first week of  September the place awakes from his lethargy. Then the country-famous „fights of the oil wrestlers occur". That is a form of the wrestling match, at which the fighters are creamed on the hole body with oliveoil. A quite merry show.

Emergency on vacation: In the case of greater emergencies wich you can not help anymore you turn please directly to your embassy: In situations in which third party came to damage you consult please the police in any case (responsible within the city boundaries) or the Jandarma (responsible outside of the city boundaries and in villages). The emergency numbers in the Turkey for the police are 155, ambulances 112. For the fire department you choose in 110. The distress call for the Jandarma is in 156. In Antalya there are also some specific tourism-police Tel: 243 1061.

Ephesos: In the proximity of Kusadasi you can hit presumably one of the climaxes of your Turkey vacation. The visit of Efes or also Ephesos will leave even the archaeologically Not Interested ones without the language. At no other place does one hit so much places, buildings, and infinitely tall column and splendor streets. Even the layman is impressed from this ancient place. (Secret tip!) Enormous efforts and investments are still carried out today, around this „wonderworld" to restore to the antiquity and to reconstruct. Ephesos is also a center of the first christianity. The letter of the apostle  Paulus for the Epheser was handed down here. Also the mother Maria is supposed to have lived here. Therefore the „house of the mother Maria is" since 1892" acknowledged by the Vatican as a pilgrimage place in Ephesos.

Fests and holidays: The fast month „Ramazan" lasts 30 days, in which the faithfu muslim in the time between sun up- and -down not eat, drink and smoke. Also the other beautiful things of the life are not during this time allowed. The religious holidays are calculated to the Islamic moon calendar with 354 days. Therefore the fast month moves every year around 12-13 days forward. In 2005 the Ramazan was to the 3th. of November.

Religious holidays:

The religious holidays are directed themselves also towards the Islamic moon calendar with 354 days. That means, they are mobile in the arrangement to the calendar year. They displace themselves every calendar year around 12-13 days forward. At the end of the fast month one celebrates the „Seker Bayram", the Sugarholiday". This celebration lasts three days and one gives away sweets and chokolate". The great sacrifice celebration (mentioned: „Kurban Bayram") exactly 70 days after that occurs. One can say that these celebrations are the largest of the year similar that Christmas- and Easter-holidays in countries with in Christian belief. Every family that can be allowed it financially slaughters a lamb, a goat or also a cow. The meat of the slaughtered animals is given according to the belief to poor and destitute people.

Fethiye: The ancient name of Fethiye was Telmessos. The main attraction of Fethie is „Ölü Deniz" (dead sea) "for tourists". An almost two kilometers long headland changes this place into a lagoon. In the shadow of trees one can devote oneself to the bathing-joys at one of the most beautiful beaches of Turkey. Dolmus-buses shuttle continuously back and forth between Fethiye and Ölü Deniz. Approaches the beach meanwhile many pensions and touristic resorts are build. Right in the place Fethiye one finds still the remains of the Lykien Graves. One can through the inscription also the grave of king Amyntas (4. Century B.C.) defining. The Johanniter-Castle from the time of the crusades ruins are only still preserved.
