It looks like this, the new notes and the new coins, that are valid since 1th of January 2009 in Turkey. The new currency is called: Türk Lirasi (Turkish Lira).

A New Turkish Lira consists of 100 Kurus (speak: Kurush). Similar as at the Euro or at the US$, a Euro or a US$ exist in each case from 100 cent.

The new Turkish currency has similar safety features which are available also at the Euro.

Important tip: You do not cange in any case in your country and neither at the airport in Antalya at the arrival. The courses are too bad and the commissions too high. They can pay everywhere with Euro or the currency you have, also with creditcard. You get the best exchange rates at your holiday regions in the post offices and the branches of following state banks: Halk Bank, Ziraat Bank and Vakif Bank
