Lokum, a Turkish temptation The Turkish honey known and in Europe hard has nothing to do with the right Lokum. It is quite sweetly, a little stickily and makes more appetite for it! Lokum, the deliciousness from the time of the sultans is part of the holiday in Turkey like the apple tea or the raki. Even if for most holiday-makers the word "Lokum" is strange, this sweet meets them in the vacation spots on step and kick so. Usually thinking there where are spices, apple tea and souvenirs. Limps the packed ready and produced industrially the "handmade" in the taste and freshness far afterwards, though? It gets who has eaten fresh Lokum once addicted. Lokum is one of the oldest confectioneries of the world as one can read it in different traditions. A sweet should be created at the court of a sultan to spoil once the many ladies in the harem and sultan should help on the other hand this to get more virility. One also therefore calls Lokum jocularly " Turkish Viagra " in today's time. All cooks and pastry-cooks at the court of the sultan were called to fulfil the wish of the sultan. The Lokum had arisen. It was rolled with a little icing sugar, chocolate or coconut rasps covered, or in broken pistachios before serving. Raisins, pistachios, hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds and what always matched it as regards taste was trained and resulted for Lokum so in its all sorts of ways. Früchtesirup and also honey are used certainly today. One uses also normal sugar for the sweet one since some generations. The roles with everything it are filled which as regards taste matches. Durable is Lokum unhesitatingly up to a year. Dried fruits of every kind are another special Turkish sweet, filled with almonds, hazel or walnuts, (see photo on the right). A delicacy. And, if the sultan has not died......, he then lives certainly today and makes himself and his ladies happy in the harem with exquisite Lokum..............
