The waterfalls of the Antalya region

What would it be like to visit the waterfalls of Antalya during a hot summer's day? A  cool refreshing experience is guaranteed while you relax in natural surroundings.

The forceful natural waterfalls truly display the fortune bestowed on Turkey with  the abundant amounts of water. At nearly every waterfall you can find places to relax and many restaurants where you can refrsh yourself. The people of  Antalya organize elaborate picnics, at weekends, with grilled foods and drinks and enjoy this time with their friends, family and pets under the shade of the beautiful trees.

The route to the waterfalls:

1. Lower Düden waterfall (named also: Karpuzkaldiran waterfall)
This waterfall is the highest as it is approx. 30 meters high and the water gushes down onto the massive rocks with great force.This  waterfall is located  in Antalya, near Lara, and can be  reached with the old  coast street as well. Many agencies have this excursion in their program,but also with their interest in going to the usual  gold, leather and jewelry factories. If you prefer a more private experience then you can  rent a car and go on your own.

2. Upper Düden waterfall
It is best to take the  main-road (Cevre Yolu) behind the airport and proceed in the direction to Kemer/Antalya. You should look out for a brown sign of "Düden Selale" in white print on the right side along the way.Simply follow directions and you should arrive after a few kilometers.

3. Kursunlu waterfalls
It is found in a very popular nature park and is ideal for picnics.You can buy a cheap grill,some  charcoal,a few pieces of meat and your favourite drinks and have your own picnic. It lends a delightful twist to your vacation.It can be accessed by driving to the   direction of Belek/Manavgat.From the airport you will see  a sign "Kursunlu Selaesi" approx. 4 km to the right of the  airport. At this juncture you must turn right and follow this road for a few kilometers until you arrive at the park.

4. Manavgat waterfall
A popular place for excursions for the  holiday-makers in Side and environs.It is quite popular in summer.You can find  some restaurants and businesses here. It is found through a street from the center of Manavgat. Simply follow the signs as there are many signs indicating the way to the waterfall.There will be smaller signs indiacting the waterfall near to local restaurants, but these signs are posted to lure customers into their restaurants.  Do not be misled by these gimmicks. You should keep driving for another  kilometer until you are at the waterfall itself.
